Ashley has just completed her HND Creative Industries: Television. She originally completed an HND in Acting & Performance to pursue her ambition of becoming an actress but then decided to take a year out. She went to Kirovograd in the Ukraine, where she helped the Salvation Army with their work at a childrens orphanage.
While there, she filmed her activities. This inspired her to take up her other ambition of working behind the camera, and decided to return to college.
As well as the demands of the course, Ashley got involved with many other activities. Her keen commitment to humanitarianism kicked in when the opportunity to go to Malawi arose. Competing against other candidates for a place on this charitable trip, Ashley made a documentary justifying her reasons for going.
While there, Ashley videoed the entire experience, with the intention of making documentaries to distribute to promote the cause.
Her ambition is to make a difference to peoples lives, and she will be returning to the Ukraine in 2010 to continue her humanitarian work. Her short film The Twin Diaries is to be shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre.
